'A Perfect Partnership'

Washing and Screening the M6 Toll Road.

Powerscreen Washing Systems LimitedMany local companies have been involved with the development of the M6 toll project, and Powerscreen Washing Systems of Allesley, Coventry is one such company. Experts from the company were involved in the project from its early stages. CAMMBA are using Powerscreen Washing Systems for the supply of specialist plant and equipment that process excavated materials to provide quality aggregates for constructing the motorway.

Early in 2000 Powerscreen Washing Systems began to assess the supply of equipment required by this enormous engineering project. This programme, needed to allow for change and flexibility to accommodate variations that might arise as the more detailed design stages were reached. The design of appropriate processing plant layout to meet production targets caused Powerscreen Washing Systems few problems since it is a market leader in the field.

Initially the programme envisaged a processing feed of 8-9000 tonnes per week through the main washing plant, subsequently this was increased to 14,000 tonnes, more recently an additional second washing plant has increased the processing feed output to 28,000 tonnes per week. In a project of this size some consideration has to be made for critical path programmes, in this respect the necessary stocks and stocking area would need to be provided. Washed stocks would be in the region of 300,000 - 4,000,000 tonnes of six different products to meet demands for drainage, blended material PQ concrete and structural concrete on a parallel programme.
